Originally one of a row of coastguards cottages built in 1860 in the unique Rye Harbour area, Harbour Cottage is a delightful, newly refurbished holiday cottage for up to 5 people close to the west bank of the River Rother with its yachting centre and busy fishing fleet.

The Cottage

The cottage consists of a carpeted lounge/dining room area with lounge and dining furniture for 4 – 5 people alongside a T.V, 'Freeview' system, and CD/DVD player and an imitation electric 'wood burning' stove. The kitchen, with its tiled floor has all the features you would expect including electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine . The back door from the kitchen leads to the back yard area with BBQ and garden furniture. Steep stairs lead to a small landing area and 3 bedrooms, one double, one bunk, and one single and a bathroom with bath/shower, toilet and basin.

Services Included

All heating and electric. All bed linen (duvets) and towels. Parking space for 2 cars. One pet welcome. Smokers welcome.

Regrettably not suitable for disabled access.
Late bookings welcome.

Rye Harbour

Outside of the cottage, you have the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest which offers lazy walks across fields, along the sea shore and large areas of shingle as well as several bird hides where you can view all sorts of local wildlife.

The area is also steeped in history with Camber Caste, built by Henry VIII lying slightly to the west of the Harbour and accessible by foot, and a Martello Tower build to defend against invasion dating from the Napoleonic wars.

The village has 2 local pubs, both serving meals with an emphasis on fresh locally sourced produce, especially fish, a local café and a village shop.

If the peace and quiet of R ye Harbour isn't for you. The town of Rye with its cobbled streets, quaint tearooms and rich smuggling history is only a 5 minute drive away (30 minutes walk). There is a reliable bus service into town running every 30 minutes and from Rye there are easy transport links to Camber, and its sand dunes, Battle, with its historic Abbey and 1066 Battle of Hastings visitor centre and the busy shopping towns of Hastings and Ashford.

Tariff

From £200 - £550 per week depending on season. Short lets possible.
