Radclyffe Hall was a British author known for her groundbreaking novel, “The Well of Loneliness,” which explored lesbianism and gender identity. She lived in a number of places throughout her life, but in the early 1930s, she moved to the town of Rye in East Sussex, where she lived at a house on the High Street with her partner, Una Troubridge. During her time in Rye, Hall continued to write and was active in the local community, serving as a member of the Rye Historical Society. Today, a plaque marks the location of her house, and Hall is remembered as a significant figure in both literary and LGBTQ+ history.
